Indian Navy needs a variety & quantity upgrade in submarines

Image
By: Kartikeya Semwal Conventional submarine  Indian Navy is the world’s 7 th largest navy in the world with 294 warships. While our biggest enemy China is ranked 2 nd largest with 730 warships of different types. This is a cause of concern as we aren’t even half of our enemy. In the last 1 decade, under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji & Raksha mantri Shri Rajnath Singh ji, our navy has added many warships to its fleet, yet a lot more needs to be done. China has a large number of different types of submarines ranging from conventional to nuclear. The advantage that they have is that they are building their own submarines & that too, at a fast pace. Contrast to that India doesn’t makes its own conventional submarines. And there is a huge gap in this category. China has 48 conventional submarines which means that it can deploy as many of them to watch or surround Indian Ocean region (IOR) while India has only 16 conventional submarines. Those too are the old Russian Kilo cl

Rebuilding IAF for future wars: More Rafels, Tejas Mk-2, AMCA needed

Image
Indian Airforce has played an important role in guarding India for decades. From time to time, it has showcased its importance ranging from Indo-Pak wars to Bangladesh’s independence war to Kargil war. A few years back, IAF’s prowess could also be seen through Balakot Surgical Strike that was done in POK to destroy terrorist training camps. But with passage of time, IAF’s fighter squadrons have gone down. Against the required 42 squads, IAF has only 32 squads which is a cause of concern keeping our two unfriendly neighbours China & Pakistan in mind. IAF was supposed to acquire over 100 new fighter jets over a decade ago but lack of signing of deal & the long new fighter jet assessment process resulted in not acquiring any new jets in large numbers. Rafale  The present Modi govt. did buy 36 new Rafale jets from France but that is not enough. The MRFA tender hasn’t been signed yet, under which 114 new fighter jets are going to be acquired. Once this is done, it will help rais

Indian Army gearing for major Artillery Upgrade

Indian Army gearing for major Artillery Upgrade By- Kartikeya Semwal Indian Army has been a recognized force across the world. With changing scenarios across the borders and keeping its eastern neighbour in mind, Indian Army is gearing up for a major upgrade of its artillery units. Recently it had brought 100 K9-Vajra self-propelled artillery guns that are of 155*52 calibre. It is going to repeat this order & buy another batch of 100 similar guns with modifications for cold weather & low temperature during winters. K-9 Vajra  Indian Army is also modifying its 21 regiments of 135*45 mm Sharang guns to 155*45 mm. 6 regiments have already been modified while the remaining 15 will be modified in the next 5 years. Besides, Indian Army is also buying indigenous Dhanush towed artillery guns that are of 155*45 mm calibre and can fire APFSD shells to destroy armoured tanks and bunkers of enemies.  Sharang As if this was not enough, Indian Army is also gearing up to buy atleast 150 ATAGS

Lessons for Indian Army from Russia-Ukraine war

Image
By-Kartikeya Semwal It has been over 10 months since Russia attacked Ukraine last year in February 2022. Yet, despite being more powerful and having bigger army, Russia hasn’t been able to defeat Ukraine and its hard-fighting combat troops. There are more than one reasons for that. First is that Russia is fighting an open war while Ukrainian troops are fighting Guerrilla war. This means that the attacking Russian troops remain in open while Ukrainian forces remain hidden. They attack in small groups, appear suddenly out of nowhere, attack and get away. That’s one big reason why they have been able to hold Russian troops for so long.  Second reason is use of man portable anti-tank guided missiles (MANPAD) systems that Ukrainian troops were supplied by US-UK and European countries. They used them precisely to suddenly attack, hit and destroy Russian tanks and infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) and run away to safety. This was one main reason why Russian troops lost so many tanks and IFV

If Russia is wrong over Ukraine then US-NATO too were wrong on Afghanistan & Iraq

If Russian action on Ukraine is wrong then wasn’t US-NATO                       action on Afghanistan, Iraq & Syria wrong?  By- Kartikeya Semwal  Russian invasion of Ukraine It has been a month since Russia started its invasion of Ukraine to ensure its own borders’ safety. Whatever Russia did was just to make sure that Ukraine doesn’t join NATO that would have brought NATO troops on Russia’s doorsteps. Many European countries think that Russian action is wrong but my question to all of them is- won’t they stop a rival country from joining a particular military group that would bring that group’s combined troops to their country’s border?      US army in Iraq The whole European Union & NATO member countries are acting like salves to their masters US & UK. One order by US and they all became ready to send high-tech anti-tank and anti-aircraft weapons to aid Ukraine’s army. One order by the current US president and all of them readily banned Russian goods and canceled their

Those 21 Mig-29s were needed

Image
Those 21 Mig-29s were needed  By- Kartikeya Semwal  IAF had signed a deal with the Russian Mig Consortium to purchase 21 Mig-29s to strengthen its air-defense capabilities and increase its number of fighter squadrons. But now that deal has been canceled keeping India’s MWF/Tejas Mk-2 in mind. But one thing that IAF failed to notice is that the 1 st MWF won’t be inducted before 2026, which is far away for now and the 1 st flying squadron of MWF/Tejas Mk-2 won’t appear before 2028-2029 which is way too long keeping IAF’s requirement and Chinese threat in mind.  Mig-29 UPG of IAF Some of the defense experts and analysts have expressed concern with inducting more Russian jets as they can be hacked into and crashed by China’s cyber force. But India has the ability to counter it by installing their own system computers and indigenous radar and EWS (electronic warfare system) on those Mig-29s. Those were also meant to be upgraded in terms of hardware and software. According to me, IAF has

Indian Army gearing up for any kind of mischief from either side

Image
By- Kartikeya Semwal Indian Army is known across the world for its preparations on the border for any kind of mischief by the enemy on either side of the border. Their hard training, readiness and determination to fight and win is the reason why countries like US, UK, France, and Germany send their troops to train with the Indian Army. Whether it is number of troops or weapons, the Indian Army always seems ready to deal with any kind of threat in any season.  Indian Army on eastern border. Ever since Galwan-clash and Pangong-Tso lake confrontations with China’s PLA troops, Indian Army has upped its deployment of man and machine across the eastern border. But ever since Taliban took over China started visiting forward posts of Pakistan & started providing heavy weapons to their army, Indian Army has been gearing up to deal with both our enemies.  Recently, China has decided to sell 236 SH-15 long-range howitzers to Pakistan so that they can be used against India. And in order to
